ITINERARY :
Day 1 : Arrivals to either Pula or Trieste ( It ) ,transfers to the hotel
The Schwengersbauer family is looking forward to welcome you in the
“Casa Romantica Parenzana”. Accommodation , briefing and sorting out the bikes .
Day 2 : Parenzana – Buzet via Slovenia ( about 55 kms )
Crossing the border first thing in the morning .
Discover the Slovenian part of the peninsula : historic centres of the picturesque villages ,
the slopes of hills covered by vineyards and olive groves, medieval churches,
intact nature of the valley of the river Dragonja and the Karst Edge,
images of life in the past…
After exploration of the countryland of Koper, Izola and Piran – three Slovenian coastal
towns at the draught of cultures, colourful past and present – you will greet the border again
and cycle into Buzet , the city of truffles . The area features outstanding natural beauty and traces of a glorious past .
Day 3 : Buzet – Pazin ( about 55 kms )
Soon after the morning climb you will be rewarded by some wonderfull views of the central
Istrian hills . Pay a visit to Hum , the smallest village in Croatia , homeland of “biska” ,
the most original Istrian grappa .
Tour across rolling green landscapes in the heart of Istria towards the old Istrian capital Pazin.
The famous French writer Jules Verne wrote about Pazins’ cave in one of his novels .
Day 4 : Pazin – Pula ( about 70 kms )
Leaving the central Istrian plateau . Heading for the ultimate South .
Tiny frescoed country churches and stone huts called kazuni are sprinkled over oak forested countryside .
After a long day Pula welcomes you to the 3000 years of history! . It was the home of the Histrians, the Romans and the Venetians.
Day 5 : Pula – Klostar ( about 65 kms )
After a ride through the Roman centre of Pula you’ll be exploring the central part of Istria
with some famous medieval castles and abandoned towns .
A jewel on your way to the agriturismo , Svetvincenat or Savicenta town . Ideal place for our lunch too.
Exploring the Lim valley in the afternoon hours before reaching the agritouristic guesthouse Matosevic .
Our friend Milka invites us for a home-cooked meal with ingredients from their garden .
Day 6 : Klostar – Motovun ( about 50 kms )
After a stopover in the famous summer resort of Porec you’ll proceed towards the country of
the truffle . Known for good wine but also as one of the few areas where people search for
truffles .
At the end of the day climb the medieval Motovun , the town where former Formula 1 driver
Mario Andretti was born in times of the Italian occupation . Lot of history in and around
this old hill top town raised above the surrounding forests in its fortified position .
Try one of the local konoba’s or just book a nice table at the hotel’s terrace
overlooking the area . Local Teran wine accompanies the truffles very well .

Day 7 : Motovun – Buje ( about 55 kms )
Cycle along ancient Istrian towns which were built on the peaks of the hills: today they are treasure troves of antiquity.
For centuries they have stood on the hilltops, crowning their beauty .
There are flocks of doves in there, men chat in the streets, and children play in the shade of ancient walnut trees .
“Casa Romantica Parenzana” welcomes you once again this week but this time with a special
farewell dinner .
Day 8 : Departures
