Back there in the 80’s I used to live in the Netherlands .That’s when my involvment in the world of cycling began .I gave myself the pleasant charge of showing my Dutch friends how beautiful my homecountry Croatia was .
So back in those times I dreamt of a company which would give people the opportunity to experience amazing places, stunning landscapes, incredibly varied cultures , moving history and fabulous food and wine of Croatia . Besides I was convinced that cycling was the best way to do that – and SITNICA was born , back in 2000. To help others enjoy my country .
I still am convinced and keep on showing the world this land of contrasts and diverse landscapes : the well – indented , rocky coastline , more than a thousand islands, small towns that please the senses with their beautiful architecture and atmosphere, the green península Istria with wine roads and truffles , historic región of Dalmatia with olives, aromatic plants, white karstic rock amid the azure Adriatic Sea, the unspoiled interior with the valleys of the rivers Sava, Drava and Mura, the littoral landscape in the immediate vicinity of the mountains and forested regions of Gorski Kotar and the exceptional National Parks of Krka and Northern Velebit. I have gone a little bit further by now so I am busy to add new countries and regions to our assortment of cycling holidays.
The SITNICA team would be happy to bring you the bicycle holiday of a lifetime and at the same time focus on protecting and conserving the places we visit. In order to accomplish this, we have developed low impact biking tours so that our travelers can experience and appreciate both local ecological and cultural aspects. Another main goal is to involve the local community in our programmes by visiting artisans, local restaurants, specific shops , using as much as possible family run hotels , hiring local transportation and employing local guides. Over the years we’ve built up a diverse team of guides . Our guides take care of all of the daily planning and organization, leaving you free to get on your bike and enjoy the ride. All are friendly, approachable, always willing to help and happy to give advice and tips.
Please contact us to ask a question about one of our trips or if you need information about cycling in these parts of the world in general. We truly enjoy hearing from you
— and welcome ANY questions!
If you have a group or organization that is interested in a custom tour, we can tailor most of our trips to fit your schedule, interests and budget.
Hope to meet you on one of our trips!
